Ryder race still up in the air

The final shoot-out for places in Europe’s Ryder Cup team does not look like having the cast list that captain Colin Montgomerie anticipated.

Justin Rose has already said he will not be playing the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in two weeks’ time even if he has not secured his place. He wants to target the money-spinning FedEx Cup play-offs instead.
