Watson to return to Pebble Beach

Tom Watson has accepted a special exemption from qualifying for this year’s US Open, which will be played at Pebble Beach from June 17-20.

“I am deeply grateful to the USGA for extending me the invitation to play in the US Open at one of my favourite golf courses in the world,” the 60-year-old said.

Watson, who won the title at Pebble Beach in 1982, will become the only player to have played in all five US Opens at Pebble Beach, which previously hosted the championship in 1972, 1982, 1992 and 2000.
