Wie moves into contention

Michelle Wie carded a five-under-par second round to move within two shots of the lead at the Kia Classic in California.

On a day which saw much of the field struggle to keep their scores the right side of par, Wie claimed six birdies against one bogey for a 67 which put her two behind leader Seo Hee-kyung.

Seo also went five under today to sit seven under for the tournament, one clear of fellow South Korean Kim In-kyung.

Wie was in a group of four tied for third on five under, while overnight leader Na On Min was a stroke further back after carding a two-over round.

Open champion Catriona Matthew struggled, going three over to sit one under overall for a share of 19th.
