McIlroy in action at World Matchplay event

Rory McIlroy is flying the flag for Ireland at the Volvo World Matchplay Championship in Spain, which teed off this morning.

The Co Down golfer is due to take on Masters champion Angel Cabrera today in Group C of the competition.

Padraig Harrington, meanwhile, is leading the Irish contingent at the Singapore Open in Sentosa.

Michael Hoey, Peter Lawrie, Graeme McDowell, Shane Lowry, Paul McGinley and Damien McGrane are also taking part in the event.
