McIlroy sets pace in St Andrews
Rory McIlroy continued his bid to go top of the European Tour money list with a 69 at Kingsbarns today.
After yesterday’s cancellation of play because of high winds, McIlroy moved onto 14 under par with a round to go.
Joint halfway leaders Michael Hoey and Richie Ramsay had fallen back, but McIlroy had England’s Simon Dyson alongside him instead – and Dyson still had four to play.
On the same course Darren Clarke had moved into third place only one behind, while joint fourth on 12 under were Luke Donald, Ross McGowan and Jose Manuel Lara – Donald also at Kinsgbarns and the other two at Carnoustie.
Padraig Harrington was in danger of missing the cut, however, after double bogeys at the 13th and 14th dropped him to joint 51st on four under.
