Monty to miss Swiss trip

Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie has pulled out of the coming week’s Omega European Masters in Switzerland, the first qualifying event for next year’s match.

Montgomerie has not had a top 10 finish for 14 months and after finishing only 31st in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles he said: “I feel I need a week to recharge my batteries.
