Westwood and Kaymer in French Open play-off
Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer went into a sudden death play-off for the French Open Alstom at Le Golf National near Paris today.
Westwood fired a joint best-of-the-day 65 from four behind, but Kaymer parred the last six holes to force a shoot-out for the €659,571 first prize.
Ian Poulter was third three strokes back, but could not have been angrier about a photographer whose camera-clicking he blamed on going into the water on the 15th.
Poulter said before leaving that he would take the event off his schedule next year because of it.
Colin Montgomerie, runner-up last year, had seven birdies, but also two double bogeys and finished 14th. He still has not had a top 10 finish in over a year now.
