Fasth vaults into joint lead

Former Ryder Cup Swede Niclas Fasth holed a pitch shot for an eagle three on the long 11th to join Dane Jeppe Huldahl in the lead at the Celtic Manor Wales Open.

They pair were seven under par, one ahead of Spain’s Ignacio Garrido and two in front of England’s Gary Lockerbie, who had only one to play, and 2001 winner Paul McGinley.

Huldalh was joint leader overnight with Garrido and Nick Dougherty, but the Liverpudlian fell back with bogeys at the fifth, seventh and eighth.
