McGinley calls for overhaul of world ranking system
Paul McGinley has called for a major overhaul of golf's world ranking system.
The Dubliner was speaking after finishing his round two strokes behind leader David Frost at the Celtic Manor Wales Open, where only three of the world’s top 50 players are present.
The poor turnout follows criticism of several big players, including Padraig Harrington, who did not play the PGA Championship a fortnight ago.
McGinley, however, says the ranking system is at fault for the problem as it fails to reward people who play a lot of tournaments.
