Derksen makes best of windy conditions

Robert-Jan Derksen dropped a shot but extended his lead after nine holes of today’s Ballantine’s Championship third round as strong winds continued to cause havoc at the Pinx Golf Club.

After the weather finished off the challenge of last year’s winner Graeme McDowell yesterday, and affected scores right across the board, a combination of early-morning fog and powerful gusts of wind in the afternoon led to almost the entire field carding scores over par early on today.
