3 to sponsor Irish Open

The Irish Open is to be sponsored for the next three years by mobile network 3, with prize money increased by nearly €500,000 to €3m.

The tournament will be played this year at Baltray in Drogheda, from May 14-17.

Robert Finnegan, chief executive of the new title sponsors, said: “We have given a strong commitment that will ensure a vigorous health and stunning reputation for The 3 Irish Open.

“Over the coming weeks, we will be rolling out a number of exciting initiatives that we hope will capture the imagination of the Irish public for what promises to be a fantastic sporting occasion.”
