Phil Mickelson surged into contention at the Barclays Singapore Open this morning, picking up birdies on his last two holes of the third round to move into a share of third spot, four strokes behind leader Chapchai Nirat of Thailand.

The world number three made a poor start to the US dollars five million Asian Tour tournament with a two-over 73 on the opening day but moved into the top 20 after carding a 68 in his second round.
