KJ Choi hailed his second-round three-under-par 67 as his greatest Open Championship performance after a birdie at the 18th fired him to the top of the leaderboard.

The South Korean shot four birdies – two back-to-back on 17 and 18 – to take a one-stroke lead over veteran Greg Norman, whose second level-par round in succession leaves him well placed going into the weekend.
