Nick Faldo tonight painted a gloomy picture about Luke Donald’s prospects of making the European Ryder Cup team in September.

Donald has featured in Europe’s last two record victories but has not played since injuring his wrist in the US Open last month and will miss this week’s Open Championship at Birkdale.
