Five shots clear with 10 holes to play, new Spanish sensation Pablo Larrazabal suddenly saw his lead cut to two in the space of a few minutes at the French Open today.

As Lee Westwood birdied the 10th the 25-year-old rookie from Barcelona ran up a double bogey seven on the ninth, going into the rough and then thinning a chip over the green.

Larrazabal was 12 under par entering the inward half, with Westwood 10 under and then Colin Montgomerie joint third with Dane Soren Hansen after he almost holed his approach to the 10th. It looked a four-horse race.
