Kjeldsen makes fine start to third

Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen, 12th in Europe’s Ryder Cup race, made another push towards the team with a flying start to his third round in the French Open at Le Golf National near Paris today.

The 33-year-old, whose only win in nearly 300 Tour events came five years ago, burst from 34th into a tie for eighth only three behind joint leaders David Lynn and Pablo Larrazabal.

Kjeldsen followed an opening birdie with a bogey, but then eagled the 563-yard third and birdied three of the next four to reach four under par.

Also going well were Australians Richard Green and Peter O’Malley. Green covered the first 10 holes in five under, having survived the cut with nothing to spare at two over, while O’Malley’s four birdies in the opening five holes made him three under as well.
