Woods hails 'best' major victory

Newly-crowned 2008 US Open champion Tiger Woods savoured his 14th major victory by declaring “This is the best.”

The world number one moved to within four major titles of Jack Nicklaus’s all-time career record of 18 victories after defeating fellow American Rocco Mediate at the first hole of sudden death after they could not be separated over the 18-hole play-off at Torrey Pines.
