McGinley breaks record on way to outright lead

A closing eagle putt today took Dubliner Paul McGinley to a record 36-hole total in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

McGinley added a 66 to his opening 65 for a 13 under par total of 131, one better than the previous best held by Ernie Els, Colin Montgomerie and Andrew Oldcorn.

He was four clear of Swede Robert Karlsson and England's Miles Tunnicliff, the latter equalling McGinley's day-old record round on the lengthened West Course with a 65, while Australian Marcus Fraser was in joint fourth with Oliver Wilson and still had six holes to play.
