Bright start for Westwood

Lee Westwood made a bright start today to his bid first to stay alive and then maybe to get back into contention for the Irish Open at Adare Manor.

An opening 75 had left the former European number one, current leader in the Ryder Cup race and third on the Order of Merit, down in 80th place and nine shots adrift of leaders Richard Green and Jeev Milkha Singh.
