Forsyth fires into contention in Madeira Islands Open

Scotland’s Alastair Forsyth came from five behind South African Hennie Otto to be only one adrift with an outward 33 on the final day of the Madeira Islands Open.

Otto’s grip on the event after three opening rounds of 67 was loosened when he bogeyed the fifth and Forsyth birdied it.

Two holes later the 32-year-old from Glasgow added another birdie and then Otto bogeyed the short eighth.

They were therefore 14 under and 13 under respectively starting for home.

Ireland's Peter Lawrie is tied in 11th place on -7 after 16 holes.
