The virus which put England’s Kenneth Ferrie out of the Sony Open in Hawaii has hit him in the pocket as well as the stomach.

The virus which put England’s Kenneth Ferrie out of the Sony Open in Hawaii has hit him in the pocket as well as the stomach.

Ferrie, playing his first event since coming through the US Tour qualifying school, was lying joint 20th after rounds of 66 and 70, but did not hit another shot.

He was paid only last-place money of just under £4,500 (€5,925), but that does not count towards the money list and he earns no FedEx Cup points either.

The Northumberland golfer is not playing this week’s Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in California.
