Luiten makes his move
Joost Luiten was the big mover in the Alfred Dunhill Championship with a stunning round of 64 to move onto six under par.
The Dutchman, who opened with a 75 and 71 to just about survive the cut, was in exceptional form at the Leopard Creek Country Club with his bogey-free round moving him to within three shots of leader Lee Slattery.
The Englishman shot the round of the tournament on Friday, with his eight-under-par 65 putting him two shots behind overnight leader and home favourite, Omar Sandys.
But three birdies in his opening eight holes helped Slattery move to nine under, while a double bogey on the first from the South African saw him slip back to six under par, before he regained a shot on the sixth.
The other two men to make their mark were Ross McGowan and John Bickerton, both from England, and South African Ernie Els.
After nine holes, the world number five was on three under par, while Bickerton was on the same score after 10 and McGowan a shot better after 11.
But Luiten was the man of the day so far and picked up more than just a good score for his efforts.
Luiten, who only turned pro last year, claimed a stunning hole-in-one at the 192-yard par three 12th.
His reward was a brand new TT Roadster from sponsors Audi worth almost €55,000.
Luiten said: “Well I hit a seven iron. The first two days was also a seven iron and the wind was about the same – I just hit it. It landed on the green perfectly and just rolled in the hole.
“You know you want to hit it on the right side of the green and it will role down to the pin and that’s what I did. Just landed on the slope and rolled down and went in.
“We didn’t realise there was a prize. Not at the first moment, until they said it and then we saw on the sign behind us.”
There was also a hole-in-one at the par three 16th from Englishman Oliver Wilson, who completed his third round with a four-under-par 68 to lie four under for the tournament.
Wilson’s reward for his hole-in-one was 190 cases of Terra Del Capo wine.
Ireland's Stephen Browne is two under after 14 holes, while Darren Clarke is on the same score after 15.
