Britain and Ireland retained the Seve Trophy at The Heritage west of Dublin today with a demolition job on Continental Europe in the singles.

Trailing by a point entering the final day, Nick Faldo’s side made it a fourth successive win.

In the top game Colin Montgomerie beat Robert Karlsson on the final green for his first victory of the week – and by then Paul Casey and Graeme Storm had already defeated Raphael Jacquelin and Thomas Bjorn respectively.

Nick Dougherty halved with Soren Hansen, Simon Dyson beat Mikko Ilonen two and one – both of them were two down early on – and victory was certain when Bradley Dredge went two up with two to play against Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.
