Westwood clinches British Masters
Lee Westwood won the Quinn Direct British Masters at The Belfry with a superlative closing round of 65 this evening.
After battling with fellow Englishmen Ian Poulter and Mark Foster for most of the day Westwood surged away by holing a 30-foot putt on the 16th and then an even longer one for eagle at the long 17th.
The former European number one finished on 15 under par, five clear of Poulter. Foster's hopes ended when he hooked out of bounds on the 13th.
Paul McGinley finished as the best of the Irish on one under par. Rory McIlroy can be pleased with his efforts at two over par, and Damien McGrane finished one shot further back on three over.
