USA edge ahead in Walker Cup

The United States held the early advantage when they began the defence of the Walker Cup against Britain and Ireland’s amateurs at Royal County Down in the North today.

Scot Lloyd Saltman and Welshman Rhys Davies, survivors of the nail-biting one-point defeat in Chicago two years ago, were sent off first in the foursomes by home captain Colin Dalgleish.
