Steve Stricker turned it on when it mattered most last night, carding birdies on four of the final five holes to win the Barclays Classic by two strokes.

Stricker, who carded a two-under 69 to finish the tournament at 16-under-par 268, took home a cheque for $1.26m (£921,251).

KJ Choi closed with a 70 and finished alone in second place at 270, one shot ahead of Rory Sabbatini (68).

Mark Calcavecchia shot a six-under-par 65 to claim a share of fourth place alongside Geoff Ogilvy and Ernie Els on 12-under 272 overall.

Irishman Padraig Harrington shot a level-par 71 to finish four under par overall.
