Singh grabs Canadian Open lead

Former champion Vijay Singh held a one-shot advantage over Steve Allan and John Mallinger heading into the final round of the Canadian Open, after the world number seven carded a three-under-par 68 in the third round.

Singh, winner of the event in 2004, has already won twice this season and is chasing his 32nd career victory – while Allan and Mallinger are both searching for their maiden career titles.

Australian Allan, who will play with Singh in the final group on Sunday, and American Mallinger each carded rounds of one-under 70 and were tied for second at 11-under 202.

Singh stayed a shot clear despite a shaky finish to his round which included a pair of late bogeys.
