Govt hosts special reception for Padraig Harrington
British Open champion Padraig Harrington is to be honoured during a special reception at Government Buildings this afternoon.
The event, which is being hosted by the Taoiseach and the Minister for Sport, was arranged after the Dublin's victory at Carnoustie on Sunday.
Harrington is the first Irishman in 60 years to win one of golf's four major championships.
The victory netted him more than €1m in prize money and also pushed him up to sixth in the world rankings.
