Irish interest ends at British Amateur championship
Irish interest in the British Amateur championship ended at Royal Lytham and St Annes today.
Jonathan Caldwell and Simon Ward lost to American opposition before Irish Close champion Shane Lowry took Walker Cup hopeful Gary Boyd to the 19th before bowing out in the Thursday morning's third round.
Caldwell was beaten 3 and 2 by Tom Glissmeyer with Ward losing by two holes to Drew Weaver.
Leading qualifier David Horsey also made his exit, going down by two holes to Prestatyn's Jason Shufflebotham.
