Singh on the rise, Harrington 10th in rankings

Vijay Singh’s victory in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill moves the former world number one up two places to seventh in the latest rankings.

The 44-year-old Fijian closed with two superb rounds of 67 to beat Rocco Mediate by two and so notch his second win of the season and 31st of his US Tour career.

Tiger Woods remains clear number one despite his worst finish on the circuit since last June.

Woods, in contention with eight holes to play, was joint 22nd after coming home in a nightmare 43 with a bogey on the 16th, double bogeys at the 11th and 17th and triple bogey seven on the last.

Thailand’s Chapchai Nirat improves from 310th to 179th thanks to his success at the European Tour's TCL Classic in China.
