Quinney stays ahead of his rivals

Overnight leader Jeff Quinney extended his advantage to four shots midway through the third round of the £3m FBR Open at the TPC of Scottsdale in Arizone.

He was three under par for his first nine holes, taking him to 16 under par and comfortably ahead of Aaron Baddeley, who made something of a charge to be five under through 12 holes.

Quinney, who began the day at 13 under, birdied the first, added another on the third and then went bogey-birdie-birdie to close out his front nine in 32.

The 28-year-old went into the third round holding his first 36-hole lead and showed no sign of letting up back despite low rounds from Baddeley, Peter Lonard and Heath Slocum.

Lonard was five under through 17 holes with Slocum four under through 12.

England’s Brian Davis finished seven under after a round of 67, with compatriot Justin Rose, starting on the back nine, up to six under through 12 after four birdies in a bogey-free round.
