McGinley secures Trophy triumph for Europe

Europe retained the Royal Trophy as Paul McGinley put himself in an unbeatable position in his match-u with Asia’s Thaworn Wiratchant as the Irishman took an unassailable three hole lead with only three left to play at the Amata Spring Country Club.

McGinley, who hit the all-important putt as Europe won the Ryder Cup at the Belfry in 2002, birdied the 15th to enhance his advantage and leave Seve Ballesteros’ team in an unbeatable position and guarantee a half point for the Europeans.
