Two bogeys cost Ryder Cup star Sergio Garcia his share of the lead before heavy fog stopped play at the Taiheiyo Masters in Japan.

The Spaniard was in a three-way tie at the start of play but dropped a shot at the long third and the par-four ninth to turn in 38.

He had reached the 14th at seven under when play was abandoned for the day.

It left Japan's Makoto Inoue - four under for the day - in the outright lead on 11 under with two holes to play.

Garcia's Ryder Cup team-mate Darren Clarke's chances of a third successive win disappeared after he shot a 73 to close one over par.
