Padraig Harrington snatched the European Tour Order of Merit from Paul Casey today – helped by a Sergio Garcia bogey on the final hole of the final event, the Volvo Masters at Valderrama.

A closing 69 gave Harrington a one under total and when he came off the course he was in a tie for third place in the tournament.

That was not good enough for the money list title, but he rose to second spot when Garcia, one behind Indian Jeev Milkha Singh, hit an awful approach to the last into sand and failed to get up and down.

Singh's birdie at the long 17th allowed him the luxury of a bogey on the last to collect easily the biggest title of his career.

He is ranked only 147th in the world, but won the Volvo China Open earlier in the season.
