Celebrities to compete in cancer charity event
More than 120 amateur golfers, including Eddie Jordan, Barry McGuigan, Keith Wood, Ronan Keating, DJ Carey and Mick Fitzgerald, will play in the children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent Golf Open at Slieve Russell Hotel Golf and Country Club, in Co Cavan on Monday October 2.
CLIC Sargent provides specialist clinical care and social, homes from home, holidays, financial help, advice and research. The charity works closely with the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Groups, Crumlin Hospital, Belfast City Hospital , Belfast Royal Hospital, Barretstown and Canteen.
Sponsors Southwest Greens are donating a synthetic grass golf green for use in a back garden, hotel roof top, or corporate offices.
Whoever successfully bids for the green will join the ranks of Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia, Eamonn Darcy, Samuel L Jackson and Justin Timberlake as golfers who practise on a Southwest Green all year round.
“Our green will help CLIC Sargent’s very important work helping children with cancer,” said Southwest Greens Irish director, Gerry O’Gorman. “Long may their great work continue.”
