Woods finally shows his class
Robert Karlsson has lost to Tiger Woods by 3&2 in Sunday singles on day three at the K Club.
Cup rookie Karlsson was trying to repeat Costantino Rocca’s win over Woods in 1997 and he made a great start with a birdie on the first, but the world number one replied with three in the next four to move two-up.
Woods drove into the trees down six and bogeyed and while he halved the next his caddie Steve Williams incredibly allowed his nine-iron to slip out of his grasp and into the lake.
Woods continued with 13 clubs and struck a glorious iron to seven feet on the ninth which meant he started the back nine two ahead again. He had two in a bunker on the long 10th, however, and Karlsson remained only one behind when the next was halved in birdies.
The following three were shared as well, but the Swede drove into the lake on the 15th and put his second in the river at the 16th. Woods was on in two and Karlsson conceded.
