Lehman defiant

Tom Lehman vowed defiantly last night: “My team does not feel this is over by any stretch of the imagination.”

Down 10-6 with 12 singles left in the Ryder Cup at the K Club, the American captain was reminded of seven years ago, when Ben Crenshaw said he “had a feeling” when his side faced the same deficit and then came storming back to win.

“I know that our team has a chance,” commented Lehman when Crenshaw’s quote was put to him.

“I know we have the ability to get the job done. I have a feeling that our team is going to play incredibly inspired golf, are going to make our wives and our country proud and are going to give it their best.”
