Déjà vu as same four halve again

Paul Casey and Robert Karlsson halved with Stewart Cink and JJ Henry in today's Ryder Cup fourballs clash at the K Club.

The same four players had halved on the opening morning, with the Americans coming back from three down. Karlsson chipped in at the second and, after Cink had missed from seven feet there, Casey’s pitch to four feet on the long fourth put Europe two-up.

A par was good enough for Cink and Henry on the sixth, but Casey holed from 18 feet for a two at the 173-yard eighth and, with Henry in the river and Cink missing a 14-footer, the gap was two once again.

That was halved, though, when Karlsson missed from under three feet at the 10th and Cink holed from five. The next five were shared before Henry produced a wonderful eagle on the 555-yard 16th, smacking his second to 12 feet and holing the putt to level matters.

He was not finished either. A wonderful iron to two feet won the 17th and despite the dreadful conditions he was on in two at the 537-yard last.

But there was to be another twist – Casey followed him on, Henry three-putted and Casey made a four-footer for an absolutely crucial half.
