Irish pair to face Tiger and Furyk
Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley will take on Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk in the second day foursomes at the Ryder Cup this afternoon.
The Irish pair beat Tiger Woods and Davis Love at the same stage two years ago.
Tom Lehman resisted what must have been a temptation to rest his top two players Woods and Phil Mickelson from the second day foursomes at the Ryder Cup.
The world number one and number two were pale imitations of the players who have lifted seven of the last 12 major titles, but instead Lehman decided to bring back David Toms as Mickelson’s partner.
For the second day running European captain Ian Woosnam used all 12 players, while Lehman finally gave a game to uncapped Vaughn Taylor. He partners Chad Campbell.
Omitted for Europe were Swedes Henrik Stenson and Robert Karlsson, Paul Casey and Jose Maria Olazabal, while in addition to DiMarco Lehman will rest JJ Henry, Scott Verplank and also Brett Wetterich, who was a spectator all day.
