The five players selected by the Golfing Union of Ireland to compete in the European Individual Championship at Biella Golf Club, Italy from 23rd-26th August have been announced.

The five players selected by the Golfing Union of Ireland to compete in the European Individual Championship at Biella Golf Club, Italy from 23rd-26th August have been announced.

They are Darren Crowe (Dunmurry), Shane Lowry (Esker Hills), Gareth Shaw (Lurgan), Rory McIlroy

(Holywood) and Aaron O’Callaghan (Douglas).

They will all be hoping to emulate the success of fellow countryman Brian McElhinney who

last captured the title for Ireland in 2003 at Nairn Golf Club in Scotland.

The team selected for the European Seniors Team Championship to be played at Ruuhikoski

Golf Club in Finland from August 16th-19th is:

Peter Cowley (Cork), Tony Goode (Lucan), Maurice Kelly (Killeen), Hugh Mackeown

(Portmarnock), Seamus McParland (Greenore) and Hugh Smyth (Mourne).
