Duo make the right impression

Vaughn Taylor and Lucas Glover, the two players knocked out of the top 10 in the American Ryder Cup table two weeks ago, hit back strongly today.

Taylor covered the first 11 holes of his third round in the Buick Open at Warwick Hills in Michigan in seven under par and burst from 31st place into the joint lead.

Glover, seventh at halfway, then picked up three early birdies to be 13 under par as well.

They joined 36-hole leader Brett Quigley out in front, while Tiger Woods was only one behind.

In his first appearance since winning the Open, Woods was among the players unable to complete his second round on Friday night.

He returned at 13 under himself, but ran up a bogey six on the long 16th and parred the remaining two for a second successive 66.

Vijay Singh, seeking his third win in a row in the event, was 11 under.
