K Club pay dispute threatens Ryder Cup

A dispute which threatens the K Club’s hosting of the prestigious Ryder Cup this September has been referred to a full hearing of the Labour Court.

Negotiations between the Amicus trade union (representing greenkeepers, gardeners and mechanics at the club) and the K Club itself at the Labour Relations Commission failed recently.

“We are confident that we have a strong case to present to the Labour Court and that this issue can be resolved in the short term,” said an Amicus spokesman.

“It is a priority for our members who are greenkeepers and gardeners in the K Club to have an opportunity to showcase their work to the world at the Ryder Cup this year.

“It is reasonable to expect however that we receive a fair rate of pay.”

Amicus have been in dispute with K Club management in respect of rates of pay since January of this year.
