Woods on course as three Irish miss cut

Tiger Woods threw down the gauntlet in the Open Championship at Hoylake today.

It was a poor day for Irish hopes however, with Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke and Paul McGinley all missing the cut. Graeme McDowell is now the sole Irish survivor, tied for ninth on five under par after a disappointing round of 73.
