Edfors still a long shot
Johan Edfors is available at 100/1 for this week’s Open – despite having just won his third tournament in 10 starts.
Edfors’ brilliant best-of-the-week 63 brought him the Barclays Scottish Open title at Loch Lomond today just as it did for France’s Thomas Levet two years ago.
He had started the day six behind and at odds of 125/1, but beat Luke Donald, Charl Schwartzel and Andres Romero by two.
Now Edfors will make his Open debut on the crest of a wave and he said: “If my putting is on I am tough to beat. I always believe I could play among the best in the world, but I’ve never been close before.”
He was only 410th in the world at the start of the year, but is one good week away from earning a Ryder Cup now.
