Southern district golfers line up for Mallow battle

Golfers will this weekend battle for a place in the national final of the inaugural AA Insurance Ladies Championships at Mallow Golf Club.

Tralee, Killarney, Kinsale, Castletroy, Ballybunion, Cahir Park, East Cork, Nenagh, Cork, Limerick, Adare Manor and Ardfert have all qualified for the final after the semi-finals held in Cork on July 1 and Newcastlewest and Charleville on July 2.

The strongest teams in contention are East Cork, Ballybunion and Kinsale. All three secured places in two singles semi-final competitions.

Kerry will be the best represented county in the competition with four clubs in play: Ardfert, a small nine-hole club winning through in the Junior Foursomes, Killarney meeting Tralee in the Junior Singles and Ballybunion through in the Intermediate Cup.
