Immelman breaks US duck

South African Trevor Immelman kept his nerve to hold off Tiger Woods and win the Cialis Western Open in Illinois.

Three birdies in four holes from the seventh took Immelman, twice a runner-up earlier this season but yet to win on the US Tour, within sight of victory.

World number one Woods was three under for his final round but finished two shots behind Immelman, tied with Mathew Goggin.

Sweden's Carl Petterson closed with a level-par 71 to finish tied for fourth, four shots adrift of Immelman.

Tim Clark (66), Stephen Leaney (68), Stewart Cink (71), Jim Furyk (70) and third-round leader Vijay Singh (73) also finished at nine under.
