Golfing Union headquarters relocate to Carton House

The Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) will today officially open its new national headquarters, national academy, and golf museum at Carton Demesne House in Maynooth, Co Kildare.

The facility will serve 417 affiliated clubs with a total membership of more than 250,000, following a €7.8m investment.

“We look forward to the official opening, and the opportunity to welcome representatives of all our affiliated golf clubs, who through the support of their respective members made this dream come true,” GUI president Bernard Hynes said today.

“We are especially proud of the facilities which will provide our players with every opportunity to prepare for the challenges ahead both at national and international level”

The Leinster branch has also decided to relocate to Carton Demesne and its new office is incorporated in the new building.

The offices overlook a 22 acre, state-of-the-art teaching facility, which is now open to the public, consisting of a modern driving range, a short game area including bunkers and greens, and an indoor teaching room featuring top vision technology and an SAM computerised putting system.

The facility was funded by a combination of a once-off €15 levy from members and a €500,000 government grant.
