Gronberg in contention
Swede Mathias Gronberg moved into contention for a first US Tour victory when he produced a third-round 65 at the Buick Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, today.
While compatriot Carl Pettersson fell out of the running with a three-over-par 73, former European Open winner Gronberg had six birdies to improve from 43rd to joint eighth.
He was five behind new leader JJ Henry, who stood eight under for the day until a closing bogey gave him a 63 and an 11-under aggregate. Fellow American Harrison Frazar was his closest challenger on nine under.
Colombian rookie Camilo Villegas and former US Amateur champion Ryan Moore were a stroke further back.
Henry could leap from 26th to sixth in the United States Ryder Cup standings by taking the title.
