Colin Montgomerie has pulled out of this week’s French Open because of “mental exhaustion” according to his management company.

The 43-year-old Scot had been due to play for the eighth successive week, but has now decided to take a rest before starting his countdown to the Open at next week’s European Open in Dublin.
