Carl Pettersson has jumped from 51st in the world to 29th following his victory over eight of golf’s top 10 at the Memorial tournament in Ohio.

The Swede, now the ninth highest-ranked European, beat Americans Zach Johnson and Brett Zetterich by two.

Wales Open winner Robert Karlsson, involved at Walton Heath today in trying to qualify for next week’s US Open, is up to 94th, having started the year down at 216th.
